Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Asa Morales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Codey Fabinal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Codey Fabinal will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Asa Morales!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Codey Fabinal!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fabinal swinging wildly here.
Fabinal shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Morales as he jumps to the side.

Morales clinches with his opponent.

Morales escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Morales moves in looking to clinch but Fabinal pushes him off.
Morales darts in looking for a takedown but Fabinal gets double underhooks and turns Morales into the cage.
Fabinal misses with a punch on the inside.
Fabinal is trying to pull guard but Morales turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Morales breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Morales.
Fabinal throws a leg kick but Morales moved away.

Morales clinches.
Morales lands with a short punch from the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fabinal is trying to pull guard but Morales turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Asa Morales has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Codey Fabinal.

Fabinal manages to pull guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Morales trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Morales wants to control from the top but Fabinal keeps moving.
Fabinal looking to hit a scissor sweep but Morales is one step ahead there.
Morales really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Fabinal avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Morales wants to control from the top but Fabinal keeps moving.
Morales wants to stand but Fabinal has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Fabinal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Morales. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Morales throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Fabinal wants to sweep but no luck.
Morales trying to control the position from guard on top but Fabinal is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Asa Morales.

Fabinal closes the distance and pushes Morales back into the cage.

Morales's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Fabinal fails with the takedown.
Morales will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Fabinal shoots in looking for a takedown. Morales tries to sprawl out of it but Fabinal keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Morales manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fabinal avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Morales wants to clinch up but Fabinal keeps it at a distance.
Morales fails with a takedown attempt.
Fabinal gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Morales counters by clinching up.

Morales breaks from the clinch.
Fabinal has his takedown stuffed

and Morales decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Fabinal's guard.
Fabinal looks winded!
Morales wants to control from the top but Fabinal keeps moving.
Morales is pushing down on Fabinal's leg trying to pass to half guard. Fabinal is fighting to maintain full guard but Morales has managed to sneak the leg through.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Morales works his way into side control.
Morales has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Morales wants to stand but Fabinal is controlling his arm.
Fabinal tries to buck Morales off but Morales is having none of it.
Morales is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Fabinal will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Morales misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Morales wants to stand but Fabinal is controlling his arm.
Morales landing strikes.
Morales grinds an elbow into Fabinal's temple.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Asa Morales dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Fabinal fails with a takedown attempt.
Horrible takedown by Fabinal or perhaps it was just good defense by Morales which made him look bad.
Morales throws a right hand that Fabinal ducks under and follows up with a left that Fabinal also avoids with ease.
Fabinal stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Fabinal wants it to stay on the feet.
Fabinal misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Asa Morales has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Codey Fabinal.
Morales tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Fabinal gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Fabinal tries to pull guard but Morales won't allow it.
Morales lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Morales has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Fabinal after a bit of a struggle.
Fabinal is breathing heavily.

Fabinal wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Morales manages to break the clinch.
Fabinal with a poor takedown

and Morales counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Fabinal!
Morales tries to stand but Fabinal is controlling his head.
Morales will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The referee asks Morales politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Morales prefers to stall for the moment though.
Fabinal tries to improve position but can't.
Morales controlling the position from side mount.
Morales wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fabinal keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Morales postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Morales is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fabinal is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fabinal tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Fabinal tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Morales controlling from the full mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A nice elbow there by Morales.
Morales wants to stand but Fabinal is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Fabinal is trying to escape the mount.
Morales fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The referee warns Fabinal that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Morales swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Asa Morales!
