Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Koji Muto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alejando De La Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Muto might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Sleepwalking through the Mekong. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Koji Muto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Alejando De La Vega! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Muto misses the shot to the body. Koji Muto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Muto throws a poor cross that misses
and De La Vega counters with a left to the body. Muto throws an off balance right hand
and De La Vega counters with a series of strikes. Muto will be more careful next time no doubt. De La Vega tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. De La Vega displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Muto throws out the jab. Muto throws an overhand right that lands on De La Vega's shoulder, as De La Vega tries to avoid the shot. Muto shoots in but no luck this time. Muto is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by De La Vega. Muto pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Muto throws a sloppy body shot
and De La Vega counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. A punch combination from Muto misses. De La Vega has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. De La Vega tries to close the distance and clinch up but Muto swats him away and circles back towards the center. Muto is really struggling to find his range with his punches. De La Vega's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Muto takes a swing at De La Vega's ribcage but misses. Muto misses with a wild body shot. Muto misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from De La Vega.
Muto fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Muto keeps the fight on the outside.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Muto misses with an uppercut
and De La Vega counters with a stiff right hand. Muto closes this distance looking for a takedown but De La Vega circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Koji Muto. That's going to take a lot out of him. Muto throws a right hand that misses
and De La Vega counters with a one-two to the body. De La Vega circles away from the clinch attempt.
Muto has a takedown stuffed. Nice takedown defense from De La Vega. No joy for Muto on that attempt. Muto throws an off balance right hand
and De La Vega counters with a two punch combo. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Muto misses with a hook
and De La Vega cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's three minutes gone in the round. De La Vega tries to close the distance and clinch but Muto swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Muto rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and De La Vega counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Muto throws a big shot that misses. Muto thows a body shot but no joy. Muto tries a low kick but De La Vega avoids it. De La Vega moves in looking to clinch but Muto pushes him off. Muto fails with a takedown attempt. Muto looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Muto throws a poor cross that misses
and De La Vega counters with a stiff right hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Muto avoids a punch combination nicely.
De La Vega moves in looking to clinch but Muto pushes him off. Muto thows a body shot but no joy. Muto swats away the attempt to clinch by De La Vega. Muto shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. De La Vega is trying to defend but Muto finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. De La Vega is refusing to be controlled, as Muto sits in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alejando De La Vega dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
De La Vega is looking to clinch but Muto is avoiding it.
Muto shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in De La Vega's guard. De La Vega really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Muto. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Muto stands and throws De La Vega's legs to the side, diving into side control. Muto in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Muto is trying to get an arm triangle but De La Vega is defending well. Muto working the ground and pound. Muto creates some space and throws a big elbow, but De La Vega sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. De La Vega pushes Muto away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Muto gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Muto trying to control the position but De La Vega is working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. An elbow from Muto crashes against the mat.
De La Vega is trying to buck Muto off. Muto wants to control but De La Vega is keeping him busy. Muto tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Muto scores with a couple of short elbows. Muto wants to control but De La Vega is keeping him busy. Muto swings around for an armbar but De La Vega sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Muto's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. De La Vega wants to get up but he can't break Muto's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Muto looking to hit a scissor sweep but De La Vega is one step ahead there. De La Vega got a little sloppy there for a moment and Muto has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, De La Vega has managed to get both his arms back between Muto's legs - danger averted. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Muto looking to control.
Muto has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but De La Vega can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. De La Vega tries to stand but Muto is controlling from the bottom. De La Vega wants to stand and escape but instead Muto has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Muto scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Muto trying to control but De La Vega is working from the bottom. Muto stands and throws De La Vega's legs to the side, diving into side control. Muto tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Muto has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Muto trying to control the position but De La Vega is working away. Muto has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. De La Vega wants to get back to his feet but Muto drags him back down. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. De La Vega takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Muto wants to control but De La Vega is keeping him busy. De La Vega takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Muto looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Muto trying to control the action but De La Vega is working from the bottom. Muto is really struggling to control De La Vega but he's trying to hold on to the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Muto scoring with punches and elbows. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Koji Muto dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Muto swings widly with a right hand
and De La Vega counters with a two punch combo. Muto dives in and scores a takedown into De La Vega's guard. De La Vega wants to stand up but Muto is controlling him. Muto throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as De La Vega works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Muto prevents De La Vega from getting back to his feet. Muto passes De La Vega's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Muto trying to pass the guard but De La Vega defending well. Muto is trying to control. De La Vega wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. De La Vega wants to get back to his feet. Muto seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Muto slips a nice elbow through De La Vega's hands, connecting with De La Vega's forehead.
That's one minute gone in the round. De La Vega is looking to escape. Muto is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! De La Vega is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
