Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, William Carr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Adao! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carr misses with a series of wild punches.
Adao shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Carr counters with a stiff right hand. Adao shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Carr defends it nicely. Carr looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Carr gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Carr wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Adao has him pressed against the cage. Carr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Carr closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Adao quickly recovers to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Adao is pressing down on Carr's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Adao looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Carr trying to control the position from guard on top but Adao is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Adao is looking for a triangle but Carr pushes his legs off easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Adao looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Carr is defending well. Adao quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Carr has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Adao celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). John Adao! A very excited looking John Adao rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
