Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Taj Mahal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexio Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by A Country Boy Can Survive. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Taj Mahal! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Alexio Silva! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mahal.
Silva keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Mahal throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Nice defenses there by Silva. We've been hearing reports that Mahal has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Mahal scores with a body shot.
Mahal throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Mahal scores with a jab to the head.
Mahal throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mahal tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Silva looks to score with a jab to the body but Mahal is just out of range. Mahal throws a shot from downtown. Silva moves away and avoids it. Mahal shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Silva moves into the clinch. Mahal is trying to maintain a safe position but Silva gets an underhook and turns Mahal into the ropes. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Silva has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Silva blocks an uppercut.
Silva decides to pull guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva keeping full guard, as Mahal tries to pass. Silva is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mahal defends well. Mahal drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mahal jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Mahal trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Silva has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Mahal should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Silva has tightened it up now! Mahal should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Alexio Silva! Alexio Silva is the new featherweight champion!
