Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Aaron Alard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 12 - 3, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mickey Halliday! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Halliday ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Alard moves away. The fight stays on the outside here - Alard looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Halliday takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Halliday connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Alard's hands. Halliday misses with a jab, cross combination.

Halliday shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Alard eats them both and turns towards Halliday to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Halliday throws a series of punches but Alard avoids them all with ease. Nice uppercut there from Halliday. Mickey Halliday seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. This has been an exciting period of action! Halliday gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Alard wants to control from the top but Halliday keeps moving. Alard with a nice head shot there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alard throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Halliday pulls Alard in close to prevent any damage. Alard wants to control from the top but Halliday keeps moving. Halliday working a defensive guard here.
Alard has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Alard is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Aaron Alard wasn't doing enough on the ground. Halliday tries to clinch but Alard moves out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alard misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Halliday misses with a hook. Alard ducked under it nicely. Halliday throws an overhand right that lands on Alard's shoulder, as Alard tries to avoid the shot. Alard moves in looking to clinch but Halliday pushes him off. Alard doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Halliday doesn't manage to clinch there - Alard circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Alard. Halliday scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Mickey Halliday is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Alard takes one on the button. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Alard looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Halliday is fending him off so far but Alard persists. Nope, Halliday circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aaron Alard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alard looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Halliday! Alard fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Alard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Halliday keeps working. Alard has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Halliday is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Alard yanks on the arm and Halliday is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Alard.
