The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shawn shoots and misses
and Brolin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Shawn won't be happy with that.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Brolin is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Shawn has escaped the position, nice work there.
Brolin is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Shawn knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Brolin tries for a kimura but Shawn is defending well.

Brolin creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Shawn sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Brolin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Shawn is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Shawn tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Shawn dodges the ground and pound from Brolin.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brolin is working to tighten his grip on Shawn's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Shawn has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Brolin is really squeezing tight and eventually Shawn passes out! Brolin breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
