The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice straight punches there by Volkov. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Volkov.
Hamilton fails in his attempt to clinch.

Volkov gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hamilton to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Hamilton manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Volkov on his heels. He'll look to pass Volkov's guard now, I'm sure.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hamilton is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Volkov is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Hamilton throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Volkov sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Volkov scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Hamilton tries to clinch up but Volkov circles away and keeps his distance.
Volkov looks to land a right hand but Hamilton moved out of range.

Roman Volkov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hamilton.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Volkov pushes Hamilton away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hamilton gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Matt Hamilton has got the better of the ground game so far.
Volkov takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
