The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Philips defending well as BJ loads up on a big left hand.
BJ wants to clinch up but Philips keeps it at a distance.
BJ tries to clinch up
and Philips counters by moving into the clinch.
BJ lands a takedown into guard.
Philips looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Philips keeping moving, preventing BJ from controlling successfully.
Philips knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for BJ on the ground.
Philips can't keep his opponent in guard - BJ advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Philips is in trouble now - BJ has advanced to mount!
BJ has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Philips's face.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
BJ scoring with strikes but Philips is staying in there.
A nice elbow there by BJ.
That's one minute gone in the round.
BJ postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Philips looks a forlorn figure.
A big strike lands for BJ! That's really hurt Philips and he's turned his back - BJ keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! BJ jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jay Dee BJ!
