Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ruslan Aslamanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Jo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jo has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Ruslan Aslamanov has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Jo! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Santiago Holmes and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jo throws a right and a left that Aslamanov avoids nicely. Jo misses with a few strikes there.

James Jo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jo forces Aslamanov back against the cage and clinches. Aslamanov is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Jo pulls him back up using the underhooks. Jo stops a takedown attempt from Aslamanov.
Aslamanov is trying to drag Jo to the mat but Jo just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Jo looks winded! Aslamanov flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
My spies in Elite Training Facility inform me that Jo has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Jo is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Aslamanov misses with some strikes from the bottom.
