Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Maynard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rcrs Sarabjit! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sarabjit doesn't succeed with the takedown and Maynard cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Maynard lands with a straight right. Sarabjit didn't see that one coming.
It looks like Rcrs Sarabjit has been cut. Sarabjit shoots in for a takedown but Maynard shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. John Maynard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sarabjit shoots in looking for a takedown. Maynard tries to sprawl out of it but Sarabjit keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maynard manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. John Maynard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rcrs Sarabjit. Maynard punishes Sarabjit's body with a nice straight punch. Maynard lands a right hook to the body.
Maynard motions for Sarabjit to come forward. Maynard throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Sarabjit has eaten all the pies! A jab from Maynard does it's job there. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sarabjit darts in looking for a takedown but Maynard gets double underhooks and turns Sarabjit into the cage. Sarabjit letting Maynard take a breather here. Maynard breaks the clinch.
Maynard misses with a body kick. Sarabjit keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sarabjit shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Maynard is doing well to control the position and prevent Sarabjit from advancing to side control. Sarabjit is looking for a kimura but Maynard is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sarabjit to get the leverage. Maynard moves into full guard.
Maynard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maynard looking for a triangle here. Sarabjit is fighting it but it looks tight! Maynard pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Sarabjit is tapping out - this one is all over!
