The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gronovski misses with a takedown attempt

and Mercer counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Mercer with a flurry of punches that miss.
Mercer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gronovski on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Grogan Gronovski has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Gronovski throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gronovski misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Mercer drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

That was a close round but I would say that Claud Mercer will probably get the nod.
