PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andy Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michal Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andy Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Michal Silva!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Silva.

Scott has managed to clinch.
Scott keeps control of Silva as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Silva escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Scott wants to clinch

and Silva counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Scott!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Silva decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Silva dives in and grabs Scott's left leg, looking for a takedown. Scott pushes down on Silva's head and hops out.
Silva walks into a straight right hand from Scott.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Scott tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Scott tries to clinch there but Silva circles away.
Silva shoots in looking for a takedown but Scott manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Silva's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Andy Scott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michal Silva.
Silva looks winded!
A combination from Scott does no damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice sprawl there from Scott as Silva shoots in.
Scott throws a head kick that misses.

and Silva counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Silva wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Scott has him pressed against the cage.
Scott is trying to break free.
Scott jumps guard but Silva stands there with Scott around his waist. Scott gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Scott's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Scott throws the kick towards the body but Silva avoids it.
Silva tries to score a power double leg takedown but Scott sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Silva somewhat.

Silva closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Scott's guard.
Scott looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Scott controls Silva momentarily but Silva frees himself.
Silva wants to get up but he can't break Scott's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Scott is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Andy Scott.
Silva shoots for a takedown but Scott saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Scott throws a nice looking combination but Silva bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Scott throws a push kick but Silva slaps the foot to one side.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Silva looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Silva wants to stand but Scott has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scott controlling the position for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Andy Scott wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Silva dives in and scores a takedown into Scott's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Silva wants to get up but he can't break Scott's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Scott is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Scott tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Silva wants to stand but Scott is controlling his posture from full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Scott has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Silva has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michal Silva dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Silva decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Silva tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Scott trying to hold on to Silva's head to control him but Silva postures up.
Silva wants to stand up but Scott has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Silva decides to return to a standing position.
Scott lands with a nice combination. Silva backs away looking to recover.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Silva bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Silva wants to stand but Scott is controlling his arm.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Scott is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Silva off and has taken his back!
Scott lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
Silva controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Scott scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Silva is looking for a way out.

Silva is trying to defend against the choke here but Scott has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Scott Tightens the hold and Silva taps out furiously! Scott displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Andy Scott!
