Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bunta Fujiwara! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masa Mune! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fujiwara tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mune sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fujiwara somewhat. A lazy left from Mune finds it's target. Mune with a hook. We've been hearing reports that Fujiwara has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Fujiwara staying out of range there. Mune scores with a body shot.
Fujiwara bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Fujiwara shoots in for a takedown but Mune shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Fujiwara tries for a takedown but Mune circles away easily and Mune counters with a stiff right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bunta Fujiwara. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mune throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Mune leaves Fujiwara with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Mune with a nice cross. Mune throws a shot from downtown. Fujiwara moves away and avoids it. Mune uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Fujiwara is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mune throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fujiwara tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mune is in Fujiwara's guard. Oh Fujiwara is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Mune looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mune lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Mune loads up on a big left hand. Fujiwara felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Mune looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Fujiwara can't hide his disappointment, as Mune celebrates the victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Masa Mune!
