Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Perez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edward Scissorhands! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Hirohito Nitta.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jab, jab by Scissorhands - just one landing. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Scissorhands.
Scissorhands swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Scissorhands darts in and out, connecting with a jab. No luck for Perez with that takedown attempt. Scissorhands misses with an uppercut. Scissorhands jabs Perez to the body, keeping him at a distance. Scissorhands looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Scissorhands misses with a few strikes there.
Perez takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Scissorhands slaps away a takedown attempt from Perez, before circling back to the center of the mat. Perez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Scissorhands pinned against the cage. Scissorhands gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Perez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Scissorhands misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Perez.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scissorhands throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Perez shoots in for a takedown but Scissorhands shows good takedown defense. Perez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Scissorhands's guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Perez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Perez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Scissorhands keeping full guard, as Perez tries to pass.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Perez is working hard here to advance position. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Scissorhands holds on and takes a little breather. Perez sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Scissorhands's guard. Perez is looking for a kimura here.
Scissorhands felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Perez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Perez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Scissorhands is just riding it out for now. Perez eventually gives up the hold.

Perez wants to advance to full mount but Scissorhands doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Perez looking to pass the guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that David Perez will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Scissorhands thuds a left hand into Perez's body. Perez drives through with a takedown into Scissorhands's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Scissorhands is pulling down on Perez's head to control his posture. Perez wants to pass the guard but Scissorhands is keeping the position. Scissorhands trying to strike off his back.
Scissorhands can't keep his opponent in guard - Perez advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Perez is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Scissorhands still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Scissorhands has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Perez looking for a sweep but Scissorhands has passed into full mount! Oh no! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. That's two minutes gone in the round. Scissorhands wants to control the pace but Perez is squirming around nicely. Scissorhands content just to control the position here. Perez taking shots to the head. Perez is in all sorts of trouble here.

David Perez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Scissorhands looking to control and managing it successfully. Scissorhands with the ground and pound from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Perez tries to reverse the position but Scissorhands maintains control. Scissorhands tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Perez working to try and regain half guard.
Scissorhands raining down shots from the mount! Scissorhands takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Scissorhands throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Scissorhands trying to control but he's not successful this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Edward Scissorhands showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Nice jab there from Scissorhands. Scissorhands fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A looping hook to the body misses from Scissorhands. Perez does a little dance to reset his feet. Scissorhands missing with a left hand there. Perez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Scissorhands scores with a punch to the head. Perez fails with the takedown. Perez bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Scissorhands misses with an attempted mid kick.
Scissorhands tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. A shot to the liver by Scissorhands. Beautiful body shot. Scissorhands fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Perez has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Scissorhands tries to land a front kick but Perez steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scissorhands connects with a solid leg kick. Perez checks the leg kick. Edward Scissorhands is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Scissorhands lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Scissorhands connects with a crisp jab. Perez takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Scissorhands throws the left hand but Perez avoids the punch easily. Scissorhands is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Perez. Edward Scissorhands seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Perez ducks under a wild hook from Scissorhands. Scissorhands throws the left hand but Perez avoids the punch easily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Scissorhands throws a looping overhand right but Perez ducks down to avoid it. Perez takes a shot to the body in his stride.

It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Scissorhands wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Perez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Perez fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Perez chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Scissorhands can pounce on him.

Scissorhands throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Perez uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Scissorhands. Scissorhands misses with a straight right. Scissorhands misses with a right hand and Perez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Scissorhands with a body punch. A glancing blow. Perez checks a leg kick. Scissorhands defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Perez. Scissorhands changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Scissorhands, as that shot connected.
Both fighters circling a little - Scissorhands finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Perez doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Scissorhands lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Scissorhands throws a monster overhand right that drops Perez! Scissorhands follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
