The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Moreira misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kawajiri.

and Kawajiri counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Kawajiri stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kawajiri wants it to stay on the feet. Kawajiri ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Kawajiri misses with an uppercut. Nice jab there from Moreira. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Moreira has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. We've been told by Kawajiri's head coaches at Rings Russia that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. A momentary lapse in concentration from Kawajiri enables Moreira to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kawajiri manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Moreira wants to control from the top but Kawajiri keeps moving. Kawajiri is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Kawajiri's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Good exchange - Kawajiri coming out on top.
