The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lannister fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gaarlandt sprawls well initially but Lannister persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Lannister prevents Gaarlandt from improving his position.
Gaarlandt actively working from the bottom here.
Gaarlandt tries to get to full guard but Lannister has control of the leg.
Lannister is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gaarlandt is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lannister pulls his head out easily.
Gaarlandt slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Lannister advances to half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Gaarlandt manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Lannister has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Gaarlandt to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Lannister is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Gaarlandt pulls down on the head and he's put Lannister to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jesus Gaarlandt!
Jesus Gaarlandt really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that KO Clothing logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
