PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Barbossa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Crim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barbossa comes to the cage accompanied by Intergalactic by The Beastie Boys. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Crim fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Barbossa sprawls well initially but Crim persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Crim working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Barbossa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Barbossa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Barbossa stands and steps away. Crim gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Barbossa seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Crim throws a low kick but Barbossa moves out of range easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Barbossa goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Crim rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Barbossa's guard! Nice work there by Crim!
Barbossa will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Barbossa tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Crim swivels and escapes.

Crim clinches up with Barbossa and pushes him back against the cage.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Crim working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Thomas Crim showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Crim stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Barbossa has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Crim manages to get his head free but now Barbossa has transitioned to an armbar! Crim grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Barbossa! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
