Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aron Higgins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Porchello (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Aron Higgins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tom Porchello!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Higgins gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Porchello is controlling Higgins's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Higgins seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Porchello is looking to control Higgins's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Porchello avoid being mounted?
Porchello tries to get to full guard but Higgins has control of the leg.
Porchello tries to kick Higgins off in order to stand up. Higgins Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Higgins in side control, throwing shots but Porchello defends.

Porchello tries to improve position but can't.
Higgins tries to stand but Porchello is controlling his head.

Higgins stands up.

Porchello closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Porchello escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Porchello is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Higgins's half guard.
Higgins really is a fat lump.

Higgins wants to get back to his feet.
Higgins wants to control but Porchello passes into side.
Porchello trying to control the position but Higgins is working away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Higgins is looking to get to half guard.

Porchello has control of Higgins's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Higgins regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Higgins tries to hold on but Porchello pushes him away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Higgins is trying to stand.

Porchello looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Higgins wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tom Porchello will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Porchello gets a clinch.
Higgins jumps guard but Porchello turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Porchello breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Porchello throws a half hearted mid kick.
Porchello shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Higgins but Higgins pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Porchello tries for a takedown but Higgins sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Porchello tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Higgins defends well and Porchello ends up having to push Higgins into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Aron Higgins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tom Porchello.
Higgins is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Porchello is defending well.
Higgins tries to break free but Porchello pushes him back against the cage.

Porchello manages to break the clinch.

and Higgins counters with a thumping low kick.

Higgins doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Porchello closes the distance and clinches up with Higgins, looking for a takedown. Porchello pushes Higgins against the cage but Higgins circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Porchello is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Porchello jumps into guard, dragging Higgins to the mat.

Higgins decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Porchello, up you get!
Porchello is breathing heavily.

Higgins drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
You can see the frustration on Porchello's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Porchello is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Higgins is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Porchello is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Porchello tries to bench press Higgins off him but Higgins keeps the position.

Higgins has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Porchello throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Porchello fails with an attempt to clinch.
Higgins goes for a double leg but Porchello avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Porchello continues to drive forward.
Porchello is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Higgins gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Porchello's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
The fight stays on the outside here - Porchello looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Higgins keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Tom Porchello will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Porchello dives in for a single leg takedown but Higgins sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Higgins lands a left hand.
Higgins has had enough of the clinch but Porchello keeps him there for the moment.
Higgins is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Porchello gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Porchello pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Porchello looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Higgins is fending him off so far but Porchello persists. Nope, Higgins circles away and we're back to standing.
Porchello throws a low kick, looking for Higgins's leg but Higgins calmly moves out of range.

Higgins shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Porchello is trying to defend but Higgins finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Porchello takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Higgins decides to stand up.
Porchello scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Higgins leaves Porchello with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Higgins is looking to clinch but Porchello is avoiding it.
Porchello shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Higgins as he jumps to the side.

Porchello has taken the fight to the clinch.
Higgins fails to pull guard.

Porchello manages to break the clinch.
Higgins thows a body shot but no joy.

Higgins shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Porchello napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Porchello tries to bench press Higgins off him but Higgins keeps the position.

Higgins looks for the body kick but Porchello saw that one coming.
Porchello throws a sloppy head kick and Higgins moves out of range easily.

Higgins gets caught napping as Porchello dives in and scores a takedown. Higgins manages to retain guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Higgins has a closed guard, preventing Porchello from standing up.
Higgins wants to stand but Porchello is controlling the position.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Porchello's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Higgins manages to escape and get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Porchello tries to close the distance and clinch up but Higgins swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Porchello throws a sloppy head kick and Higgins moves out of range easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Higgins avoids the body shot from Porchello.
Aron Higgins has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Tom Porchello is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Porchello scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Aron Higgins.
I think Porchello has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
