Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Renato Cannon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jazman Frochzer! The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Viktor Lagutenko and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Frochzer takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Cannon tries to score a power double leg takedown but Frochzer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cannon somewhat. Cannon tries for a takedown but Frochzer sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. A momentary lapse in concentration from Cannon enables Frochzer to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cannon manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Frochzer with a flurry of punches that miss. Frochzer looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Frochzer has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Frochzer is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Frochzer missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Frochzer is looking to work some ground and pound but Cannon has wrist control. Frochzer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Frochzer throwing strikes but missing. Frochzer wants to control from the top but Cannon keeps moving. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Frochzer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Frochzer stays in close to Cannon's body and controls the position. Cannon avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Frochzer throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Frochzer is stalling in the full guard. Cannon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jazman Frochzer. Frochzer fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cannon avoids it really well and circles away. Frochzer shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cannon is trying to defend but Frochzer finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Cannon pushes Frochzer off looking to stand but Frochzer dives back in and keeps control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Frochzer is taking a breather. Cannon says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Frochzer wants to work for an arm triangle but Cannon is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Frochzer has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Cannon defend it? Frochzer steps over the head and cranks it - Cannon is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Frochzer!
