Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between CJ Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Jay Franlkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Richards comes to the cage accompanied by Three Six Mafia - It's a fight. Franlkin has chosen ACDC- For Those About To Rock as his entrance music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, CJ Richards! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richard Jay Franlkin! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Franlkin circles away from the clinch attempt and Franlkin counters with a left and a right that stings Richards. Richards checks a low kick from Franlkin. Richards misses with a double jab
and Franlkin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Richards will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Franlkin checks a leg kick nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Richards closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Richards lands in his opponent's guard. Richards distracts Franlkin with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Franlkin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Richards is controlling him. Franlkin is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Richards throwing strikes from guard but Franlkin blocks nicely. We've been hearing that Richards has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Richards wants to control from the top but Franlkin keeps moving. Richards is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Franlkin is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Richards presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Richards with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Franlkin breaks the clinch.
Franlkin throws a right and a left that Richards avoids nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Richards connects with a high kick. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Richards misses with a two punch combination.
Richards shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Franlkin as he avoids it easily. Richards closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Franlkin did well to prevent Richards getting side control. Franlkin is trying to stand up here but Richards is controlling him well. Richards working over Franlkin with some ground and pound. Franlkin looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Franlkin is looking to escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Richards takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Richards looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Franlkin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Richards trying to control from half guard but Franlkin is working away. Franlkin is looking to escape. Richards frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Richards postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Franlkin looks a forlorn figure.
Richards raining down hammerfists from mount. Franlkin is trying to stand. Franlkin taking shots to the head. Richards in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Franlkin is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Richards lands a big shot there that rocks Franlkin but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Richards trying to control but Franlkin is having none of it. Franlkin is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Richards cracks Franlkin with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Richards connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Richards landing strikes from the mount and Franlkin is in trouble! Franlkin wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Richards tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Franlkin's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Richards postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Franlkin looks a forlorn figure.
Franlkin is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Oooooh, big shot lands for Richards! Franlkin is hurt baaadly! Richards is firing away with more strikes - Franlkin is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). CJ Richards! CJ Richards was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
