PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Magnusson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilson comes to the cage accompanied by Seal - Whirlpool. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Magnusson!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Marco Blurström and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magnusson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Wilson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Nice sprawl there from Wilson as Magnusson shoots in.

Wilson gets caught napping as Magnusson dives in and scores a takedown. Wilson manages to retain guard.

Magnusson has his foot on Wilson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wilson works his way back into a safe position though.

Wilson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Magnusson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Magnusson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Magnusson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Wilson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Wilson and Magnusson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Magnusson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Wilson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Magnusson throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Magnusson has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Wilson is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Wilson tries to close the distance and clinch but Magnusson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Wilson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Magnusson backs up against the cage.

Wilson lands a nice looking kick to the body. Magnusson takes a step back to recover.
Wilson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

and Wilson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Wilson seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Wilson shoots in looking for a takedown but Magnusson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Wilson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Magnusson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Wilson sprawls well. Wilson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Magnusson gets slowly back to his feet.

Magnusson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

It looks like Jack Magnusson has been cut.
Wilson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Wilson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Wilson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Wilson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Magnusson moves forwards but Wilson connects with a nice, crisp jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Magnusson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wilson's waist but Wilson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Magnusson off to one side.
Wilson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Wilson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
