Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Edison Johnston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Gustafson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Gustafson has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Edison Johnston's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edison Johnston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Gustafson! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Steve Montenegro and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnston on the wrong end of a nice hook. Gustafson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Johnston fails to land the takedown. Gustafson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Johnston feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Johnston lands a couple of decent looking shots. Gustafson wants to stand up but Johnston is controlling him. Gustafson wants to get back to his feet but Johnston passes into half guard.
Gustafson is looking to escape. Johnston really is a fat lump.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnston wants to take a breather but Gustafson is having none of it. Johnston controlling the pace. Johnston prevents Gustafson from standing back up.
Gustafson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnston. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Gustafson tries to kick Johnston off in order to stand up. Johnston Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Gustafson tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gustafson is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gustafson can do anything to dispel that myth. Johnston is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gustafson can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Johnston breaks from Gustafson's wrist control and lands an elbow. Gustafson wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnston looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Gustafson is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnston postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gustafson looks a forlorn figure.
Gustafson bucks up and throws Johnston to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape! Johnston moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Gustafson throws a right and a left that both miss. Gustafson misses with a jab, cross combination.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gustafson dips to his left and cracks Johnston with an uppercut! This has been an exciting period of action! Gustafson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Johnston eats them both and turns towards Gustafson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jon Gustafson will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Gustafson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Johnston moves out of range and avoids them all easily. A punch combination from Gustafson misses. Gustafson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Johnston has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Johnston there as he acknowledges the shot.
It looks like Edison Johnston has been cut. Jon Gustafson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gustafson misses with a few strikes there.
A looping hook to the body misses from Gustafson. Johnston does a little dance to reset his feet. Jon Gustafson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnston slips a jab and a cross from Gustafson.
Gustafson lands a head shot. Gustafson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Johnston manages to avoid it. Johnston fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Johnston looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Gustafson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Nice jab there from Gustafson.
Johnston is rocked! Gustafson measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Johnston! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!
