PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Merrick Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordan Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kane comes to the cage accompanied by Blood Sugar - Pendulum. Johnson has chosen The Town by Macklemore as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Merrick Kane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jordan Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson dodges the punch combination from Kane.
Johnson has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Johnson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Kane needs to keep his hands up - Johnson had a free shot at his head there.
The fighters circle momentarily. Johnson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Johnson misses with an uppercut. Kane saw that one coming.
Johnson looks to score with a jab to the body but Kane is just out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from Johnson. Kane does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kane misses with an attempted mid kick.
Johnson throws the left hand but Kane avoids the punch easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Johnson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kane manages to avoid it.
Johnson tries to clinch but Kane moves out of range.
A jab from Johnson does it's job there.
Johnson throws a hook to the side of Kane's head but Kane sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Kane moves out of range as Johnson strikes.
Johnson throws a right hand that misses

and Kane counters with a nice double leg into side control. Johnson won't be happy with that.
We've been hearing that Kane has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kane is putting a hurting on Johnson here, landing some big shots from side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kane trying to control the position but Johnson is working away.

Johnson managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Kane.
Kane is working Johnson over with some ground and pound from side control.
Kane tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kane fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Kane misses with the ground and pound.
Kane is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Johnson will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Johnson takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The strikes coming from Kane are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Kane trying to control the action but Johnson is working from the bottom.
Johnson managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Kane.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kane connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Johnson some visible discomfort.

Kane tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kane has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kane throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Kane is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Johnson has escaped the position, nice work there.

Kane thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Johnson dodges the ground and pound from Kane.
Johnson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kane wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kane throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Kane misses with the ground and pound.
Kane misses with the ground and pound.
Kane tries to score with some ground and pound. Johnson controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Kane lands an elbow.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kane cracks Johnson with a big right hand but Johnson just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Kane throws an elbow but Johnson slips to the side and avoids it well.

Kane thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Merrick Kane dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Kane keeps the fight on the outside.
Johnson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kane.
Johnson throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kane sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kane waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Johnson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kane attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
A head kick misses from Kane.
Johnson throws a shot to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kane scores with the left hand. Johnson knows he should have avoided that one.
Kane thows a body kick. Johnson tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Johnson is breathing heavily.
Kane lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Johnson falls backwards - clearly groggy! Kane dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Merrick Kane!
Merrick Kane thanked the fans post fight for their support.
