Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Teddy Bass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Marsden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Teddy Bass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Marsden!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marsden drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Bass lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Marsden takes one on the chin but seems OK.
A telegraphed right hand from Bass misses the target.
Bass digs a good hook to Marsden's body.
Bass throws a combination that misses

and Marsden counters by moving into the clinch.

Bass pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Marsden drops his hands momentarily and Bass takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Bass shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bass showed some decent athleticism there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Marsden keeping hold of Bass's head, controlling as best he can.
Bass slips a nice elbow through Marsden's hands, connecting with Marsden's forehead.

Marsden is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Bass missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Marsden is trying to stand.
Bass is looking to take a break and control but Marsden is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bass is pressing down on Marsden's thigh, looking to free his foot. Marsden is holding on for now.
Marsden tries to roll over but Bass keeps him under control.
Bass is keen to just control but Marsden is a slippery customer.
Marsden looks like he's trying to stand up.

Bass is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Marsden is concentrating on defense, preventing Bass from advancing position.

Bass wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marsden keeps working.
Marsden is controlling Bass's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Bass shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Marsden keeping moving, preventing Bass from controlling successfully.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Marsden is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Marsden trying to keep a closed guard but Bass is proving a slippery customer.
Bass lands a couple of elbows.
Bass wants to control from the top but Marsden keeps moving.

Marsden bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bass's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bass controls Marsden momentarily but Marsden frees himself.
Marsden not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mike Marsden.
Bass misses with a body kick.
Bass lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Marsden stuffs the takedown attempt from Bass. Bass gets slowly back to his feet.
Teddy Bass seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bass closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Marsden's guard.
Bass is fighting to break Marsden's control of his arms but Marsden is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Bass is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Bass advances to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bass is trying to work for a kimura but Marsden is defending well.
Marsden is holding on to half guard well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Marsden takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Bass throws a head kick that misses.
Bass connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Bass throws a lazy right hand but Marsden sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Bass fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Marsden avoids it really well and circles away.
Marsden takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Marsden on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Bass throws a one two combo.


It looks like Mike Marsden has been cut.
It looks like Bass has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Bass scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Marsden doesn't seem bothered though.
Bass lands with a kick to the temple. Marsden shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Bass shoots in for a double leg but Marsden sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Bass throws a sloppy head kick and Marsden moves out of range easily.
Good exchange - Bass coming out on top.
Marsden tries to clinch up.
Bass keeps the fight on the outside.
Mike Marsden is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Marsden moves out of range of the body kick from Bass.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Bass tries to pull guard but Marsden holds him up against the cage and eventually Bass drops back down to his feet.

Bass wants to get back to striking at distance but Marsden won't allow it.
Bass lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Bass jumps guard but Marsden stands there with Bass around his waist. Bass gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Bass is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Bass is looking to break free of the clinch but Marsden has double underhooks.
Marsden stops a takedown attempt from Bass.
Marsden looking to slow down the pace here.
Bass tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Bass tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Marsden is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Bass throws a punch but it's blocked by Marsden.
Bass trying to control the position but instead, Marsden has worked for underhooks and has pushed Bass into the cage.
Marsden is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Bass pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Bass jabs Marsden to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Marsden displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bass.

Bass closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Marsden to the mat! Marsden manages to get full guard.

Bass is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Marsden is just riding it out for now. Bass eventually gives up the hold.

Marsden is trying to control but can't.

Bass is looking for a kimura here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Marsden holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Marsden is looking for a sweep. Bass is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Bass lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Bass.

Mike Marsden has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bass, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
