Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Herb Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mick Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mick Ward will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Herb Dean! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mick Ward! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Michael Johnstone and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ward tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dean paws at him with a jab and circles away. Dean definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Dean uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ward.
Ward throws a nice looking combination but Dean bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Ward scores with a nice right hand.

Dean manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ward on his heels. He'll look to pass Ward's guard now, I'm sure. Dean might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Ward seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Dean looking to pass the guard. Dean trying to control the position from guard on top but Ward is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ward really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dean. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Dean gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Ward wants to clinch up but Dean keeps it at a distance. Dean gets a takedown into half guard. Dean thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Dean is looking for a kimura but Ward is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dean to get the leverage. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Herb Dean. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dean, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
