Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Abe Cain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cary Waywardsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Abe Cain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cary Waywardsen!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Waywardsen gets caught flat footed, as Cain shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Waywardsen wants to stand up but Cain is controlling him.

Waywardsen throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Waywardsen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Cain controls from within his opponent's guard.
Cain tries to free his leg and advance position but Waywardsen is retaining full guard.
Cain trying to control the position from guard on top but Waywardsen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Cain with a flurry of punches that miss.

Waywardsen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Cain stopping the sweep attempt from Waywardsen.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Waywardsen tries to clinch

and Cain holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Cain throws a head kick but Waywardsen moves out of range.
Waywardsen misses with a takedown attempt
and Cain counters with a nice body kick.

Waywardsen shoots in for a double leg but Cain sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Waywardsen goes for a double leg but Cain avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cain continues to drive forward.
Abe Cain has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cary Waywardsen.

Cain's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Cain counters by moving into the clinch.

Waywardsen can't get the takedown.

Cain breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Waywardsen shoots in and drives through. Cain sprawls well.
Waywardsen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cain swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cain keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Waywardsen goes for a double leg but Cain avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cain continues to drive forward.
Waywardsen stalling in the clinch.
Waywardsen tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Cain smiles and moves away.
Waywardsen stuffs the takedown attempt from Cain. Cain gets slowly back to his feet.
Waywardsen closes the distance and clinches up with Cain, looking for a takedown. Waywardsen pushes Cain against the cage but Cain circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Waywardsen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Cain drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Cain working the ground and pound but Waywardsen is defending the strikes.
Waywardsen can't do much from the bottom here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cain stands up.
Waywardsen dodges the punch combination from Cain.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cain shoots in but no luck this time.
Waywardsen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cain tries to avoid it but Waywardsen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cain to the ground. Cain escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Nice takedown defense from Waywardsen. No joy for Cain on that attempt.
Cain shoots in and drives through. Waywardsen sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Abe Cain. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cain tries to clinch up but Waywardsen circles away and keeps his distance.

Waywardsen shoots in for a takedown but Cain shows good takedown defense.
Cain looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Cain thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Waywardsen if he has to take too many more of those.
Waywardsen fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Waywardsen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Waywardsen wants it to stay on the feet.
Cain closes the distance and clinches up with Waywardsen, looking for a takedown. Cain pushes Waywardsen against the cage but Waywardsen circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Cain rushes Waywardsen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Waywardsen has had enough of the clinch but Cain keeps him there for the moment.

Cain breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Waywardsen throws a head kick that misses.

Waywardsen closes the distance and clinches.
Waywardsen is trying to pull guard but Cain turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Cain is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Waywardsen is defending well for now.
Waywardsen tries to pull guard but Cain holds him up against the cage and eventually Waywardsen drops back down to his feet.
A frustrated look appears on Waywardsen's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Waywardsen manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Waywardsen is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cain defends well.
Cain wants to control from the top but Waywardsen keeps moving.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Waywardsen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Cain's guard.
Cain preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Waywardsen slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Waywardsen wants to stand but Cain is controlling his arm.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cain is looking for a sweep.
Waywardsen has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Cain!
Cain tries to lock up and control but Waywardsen gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Waywardsen cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Cain can't escape the position.
Cain is squirming around, avoiding Waywardsen's attempts to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Waywardsen moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Cain has worked his arm free - good work by Cain!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Waywardsen tries to stand but Cain controls the position and pulls Waywardsen into his guard.
Cain keeping moving, preventing Waywardsen from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cary Waywardsen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Waywardsen moves out of range of the body kick.
Cain dives in for a single leg takedown but Waywardsen sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Waywardsen blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Cain breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cain fails to land the takedown.
Waywardsen throws a sloppy head kick
and Cain counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Waywardsen is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Cain closes the distance and clinches.
Cain is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Waywardsen has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Cain avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Waywardsen is trying to maintain a safe position but Cain gets an underhook and turns Waywardsen into the cage.
Waywardsen tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Waywardsen is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Cain pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Cain turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Cain manages to end up in side control.

Waywardsen wants to take the fight to the mat but Cain manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Cain pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cain thows a body shot but no joy.
Cain fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Cain throws a push kick but Waywardsen slaps the foot to one side.
Waywardsen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Cain sprawls well. Cain wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Waywardsen gets slowly back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cain displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Waywardsen.
Waywardsen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cain.

Waywardsen tries to clinch but Cain moves out of range.
Horrible takedown by Waywardsen or perhaps it was just good defense by Cain which made him look bad.

and Cain holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Waywardsen takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Waywardsen tries to keep at a distance but Cain has taken the fight into the clinch.

Cain clinches up against the cage.
Waywardsen drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cain gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Waywardsen is trying to break the clinch but Cain is controlling him.

Waywardsen jumps guard but Cain turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Cain lands an elbow inside.

Cain breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Waywardsen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Waywardsen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cain swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Waywardsen doesn't manage to clinch there - Cain circles away.
Cain avoids the head kick by Waywardsen.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cain shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Waywardsen as he jumps to the side.
Cain fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Abe Cain showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Cain has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
