The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lopez tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Niel is able to avoid easily.
Niel thuds his shin into the meat of Lopez's side.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Niel lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Lopez throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Niel was covering up waiting for the punch and Lopez finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Lopez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Niel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lopez drops back looking for a leg! Niel is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Niel manages to kick Lopez off! Lopez jumps back into Niel's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Lopez drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Lopez seems to have locked his on tight now - Niel screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Lopez, as he picks up the win!
