Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 18 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcello Sanchez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Juhani Vihervuori! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez shoots and misses and Vihervuori cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Vihervuori doesn't manage to clinch there - Sanchez circles away.
Sanchez throws a jab but it's blocked by Vihervuori. Vihervuori with a body punch. A glancing blow. Vihervuori moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Marcello Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Sanchez shoots in and bounces Vihervuori off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Sanchez preventing the sweep. Vihervuori has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sanchez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Sanchez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sanchez trying to control the position from guard on top but Vihervuori is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez trying to stand up but can't free himself from Vihervuori's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We're going to have a standup here because Marcello Sanchez wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Sanchez throws a right and a left that both miss. Vihervuori throws a low kick but Sanchez moves out of range easily. Sanchez lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Vihervuori at a distance.
Vihervuori moves in looking to clinch but Sanchez pushes him off. Vihervuori scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Sanchez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Vihervuori counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sanchez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

It looks like Marcello Sanchez has been cut. A jab from Vihervuori misses. Sanchez looks for a takedown but Vihervuori sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcello Sanchez. That's going to take a lot out of him. This has been an exciting period of action! Sanchez on the wrong end of a nice hook. Sanchez swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Sanchez dives in and scores a takedown into Vihervuori's guard. Vihervuori is trying to control the position but Sanchez postures up. Vihervuori manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sanchez manages to get himself to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanchez tries to bench press Vihervuori off him but Vihervuori keeps the position. Vihervuori tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Vihervuori has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Vihervuori works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. You can see the frustration on Sanchez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vihervuori tries to advance position but instead Sanchez slips a leg back in to half guard. Sanchez is trying to maintain the position but Vihervuori is very close to passing his half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vihervuori is looking for a kimura but Sanchez is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Vihervuori to get the leverage. Sanchez is trying to stand back up but Vihervuori is controlling him
Vihervuori trying to control the action but Sanchez is working from the bottom. Vihervuori has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. The referee warns Sanchez that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Sanchez is rocked! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Vihervuori connects with a bit shot that sees Sanchez covering up! More strikes from Vihervuori and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Vihervuori is our winner by TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Juhani Vihervuori! Juhani Vihervuori really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that CEC Nutrition Q160 logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
