Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Wensink (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blake Ward (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Wensink might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Momma Said Knock You Out. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Wensink!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Blake Ward!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wensink looks to land a left hand but Ward moved out of range nicely.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ward has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
John Wensink seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wensink lands a nice leg kick that just misses Ward's sensitive parts.
Wensink misses with a looping left.
Ward slips a straight right by Wensink.
Ward avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
The fighters circle momentarily. Wensink darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Wensink misses with a hook. Ward ducked under it nicely.
Wensink misses with a kick to the body.
Wensink stuffs the takedown.
Good shot there by Wensink.

Ward gets tackled into the cage by Wensink. Wensink maintains the clinch.
Ward can't find room to land a body shot as Wensink controls the action.
Wensink lands a left hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ward wants to stall.
Our sources have told us that Wensink has been working on his elbows in the gym.
Ward is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Wensink is defending well for now.
Ward tries to circle away but Wensink has him pinned against the cage.

Wensink breaks from the clinch.
Wensink throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wensink thows a left - swing and a miss!
Wensink throws a hook but Ward avoids it easily.
Wensink throws a lazy right hand but Ward sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ward blocks a jab.
Wensink takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Ward on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Wensink. Wensink obviously looking to wear him down.
A bone on bone clash there as Ward blocks the leg kick.
Ward slips a jab from Wensink.
A cross from Wensink lands.
Ward closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.


Ward is rocked!
Wensink drops Ward with a naaaaasty hook - Ward is in real trouble here! Wensink dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Wensink!
An out of breath John Wensink thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
In defeat, Blake Ward stepped up to the mic, saying 'Whatever.'.
