Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rexman shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Barnett napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Barnett manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Rexman trying to control from half guard but Barnett is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnett keeping hold of Rexman's head, controlling as best he can.
Barnett wants to improve his position but Rexman is controlling well.
Rexman wants to pass the guard but Barnett is defending well.

Barnett is doing well to control the position and prevent Rexman from advancing to side control.
Rick Rexman has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Barnett has Rexman pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Barnett pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Rexman tumbling to the mat - Barnett dives into Rexman's guard.

Barnett wants to control from the top but Rexman keeps moving.
Rexman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Barnett drops back looking for a leg! Rexman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rexman manages to kick Barnett off! Barnett jumps back into Rexman's guard.

Barnett is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Barnett throws a big elbow that misses.
Barnett wanted to stand there but Rexman had control of the position.
Barnett is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Barnett looking to sit in guard and control but Rexman gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Barnett is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Barnett wants to sweep here but Rexman controlling him for the moment.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rexman rushes Barnett and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Barnett breaks the clinch.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Rexman.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Omar Barnett dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Rexman throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Barnett gets tackled into the cage by Rexman. Rexman maintains the clinch.
Barnett breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Rexman moves into range and clinches up with Barnett.
Barnett lands a right hand that snaps the head of Rexman backwards.
Rexman is trying to stall.
Rexman jumps guard and drags Barnett to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Rexman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Barnett controls the pace.
Barnett wants to pass the guard but Rexman is keeping the position.
Barnett postures up and lands a big shot to Rexman's brow.
That's one minute gone in the round.

Rexman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Barnett manages to get himself to full guard.
Barnett pulls Rexman in close to his closed guard and prevents Rexman from doing any damage or advancing position.
Rexman wants to stand but Barnett is controlling his posture from full guard.
Barnett bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rexman's guard.
Omar Barnett has got the better of the ground game so far.

Barnett passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Rexman is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Barnett wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rexman, who protects the arm well.
Barnett is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Rexman will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Rexman stops Barnett from passing to mount.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Barnett in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Barnett takes a little break here. Rexman wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Rexman takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Rexman is not content to let Barnett control the position.

Barnett scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Rexman to see if he's OK.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Barnett is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rexman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Barnett has an Americana. Rexman didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Barnett is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Barnett hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
