Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Guadalupe Winters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Big John!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Winters scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
John holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if John can do anything to dispel that myth.

Winters working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Winters scores with punches from side control.

John bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

John shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. John showed some decent athleticism there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Winters is not content to let John control the position.
Winters throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
John throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
John wants to control but Winters is keeping him busy.
John blocks the strikes from Winters.

John decides to stand up.
Winters wants to clinch
and John counters with a stiff right hand.

Winters darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Winters is trying to work for a kimura but John is defending well.

Winters landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
John on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
John tries to get to full guard but Winters has control of the leg.
John trying to control but Winters postures up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
John is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Winters is staying active.

Winters seems to be working for a kimura but John defends the submission attempt.

Winters sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. John defending well though.
John looks like he's trying to stand up.
John is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Winters is sneakily working for an arm triangle but John sees it coming and defends easily.
John wants to improve his position but Winters is controlling well.
Winters not landing any meaningful shots this time.

John tries to get to full guard but Winters has control of the leg.
John is looking to control Winters's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can John avoid being mounted?
Winters not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Winters thows a huge punch but John dodges it nicely.
John wants to improve his position but Winters is controlling well.
Winters working the head and body with strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Winters not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
John is looking to escape.
John tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Guadalupe Winters will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Winters tries to close the distance and clinch but John swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Guadalupe Winters is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

John gets the takedown into side control.
John advances nicely into full mount.
John lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Winters hang on?
Winters holds on, trying desperately to control.
Winters wants to control but John is having none of it.
John can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Winters is looking to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
John scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Winters?
Winters has given up his back here.
Winters trying to control the position but John manages to sink in the hooks.
Winters is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because John is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
John slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Winters is keeping busy.

John has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
John trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

John looking for the RNC.
Winters covers up after that shot from John.

Despite being in a bad position, Winters is controlling the hands, preventing any submission attempts.
Winters trying to control the hands but John breaks the grip.
John scores with punches and elbows.
John wants to control but Winters manages to buck him off and is now in John's guard! Nice work there by Winters!

Winters stands up over John, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
John seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

John escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Winters gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Winters scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Winters working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of John's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Big John showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


John swats away the attempt to clinch by Winters.

John fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Winters sprawls well initially but John persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Winters trying to hold on to John's head to control him but John postures up.
Winters is trying is best to control the position here.
John not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Winters has his hands clasped together around John's back. He's all about the action.

John is working for a submission of some sort.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Winters trying to control from the bottom.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
John trying to control the action but Winters is working from the bottom.
John is taking a breather. Winters says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Winters won't allow John to pass to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
John misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
John circles away from the clinch attempt

and John counters with a nice double leg into guard.
John tries to free his leg and advance position but Winters is retaining full guard.
Winters pulls John in close to his closed guard and prevents John from doing any damage or advancing position.
John is looking to stand up but Winters won't let him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Winters avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
John seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

John is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Winters is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Winters has escaped and now he's on top!
John takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
John trying to keep a closed guard but Winters is proving a slippery customer.
Winters throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as John works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

John has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Winters has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

John breaks from the clinch.

John drives through with a takedown into guard.
Winters pulls John in close to prevent any damage.
John sitting in guard, not really doing much.

And that's the end of the fight!
Big John comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well John has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
