Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Viktor Fuss!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fuss looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Fuss trying to control but Mcguire is working from the bottom.
Mcguire looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Fuss wants to stand but Mcguire has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Mcguire managing to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fuss wanted to stand there but Mcguire had control of the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mcguire walks forward, straight into a front kick from Fuss.

Fuss shoots in and bounces Mcguire off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Fuss tries to stand but Mcguire is controlling from the bottom.
Fuss trying to control but Mcguire is working from the bottom.

Fuss drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mcguire looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mcguire looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mcguire!

Mcguire is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Fuss is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The ground and pound from Mcguire seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Fuss struggling a bit here.
Mcguire prevents Fuss from escaping the position.

Fuss regains half guard there - taking advantage of Mcguire's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Mcguire wants to work for an arm triangle but Fuss is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mcguire wants to stand up but Fuss has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Fuss is looking for a sweep. Mcguire is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Fuss is trying to control but can't.
Fuss tries to kick Mcguire off but Mcguire keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Mcguire is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Fuss is pressing down on Mcguire's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Fuss looks winded!
Mcguire wants to stand but Fuss is controlling his posture from full guard.
Fuss tries to strike from the bottom.

Mcguire has gone for a leg lock! Fuss slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mcguire's guard.

Fuss looking to sit in guard and control but Mcguire gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mcguire could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mcguire wants to stand but Fuss has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Mcguire postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Fuss is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mcguire, into his guard.
Mcguire can't keep his opponent in guard - Fuss advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Viktor Fuss dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Fuss bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Fuss stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Fuss throws a series of punches but Mcguire moves out of range.
Fuss's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Fuss duly obliges.
Mcguire on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Fuss. Fuss obviously looking to wear him down.

Fuss drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mcguire is looking to reverse the position.

Fuss working away.
Viktor Fuss has got the better of the ground game so far.

Fuss swings around for an armbar but Mcguire sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Fuss's guard.
Fuss is breathing heavily.
Fuss is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mcguire trying to control the position from guard on top but Fuss is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mcguire is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Fuss is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Fuss is trying to control the position but Mcguire postures up.
Mcguire has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Fuss is proving hard to escape from.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Fuss misses the body punch
and Mcguire counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Mcguire throws an off balance right hand
and Fuss makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Fuss is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mcguire's half guard.
Mcguire regains full guard. Nicely done.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mcguire is on top in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mcguire is in close to Fuss's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Mcguire would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Mcguire throwing strikes from guard but Fuss blocks nicely.
Fuss pulls Mcguire in close to prevent any damage.
Let's hope that Fuss has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Viktor Fuss has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
A looping hook to the body misses from Mcguire. Fuss does a little dance to reset his feet.
Viktor Fuss seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fuss gets a takedown into half guard.
Fuss throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Fuss working the head and body with strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mcguire is defending against the submission attempts here by Fuss.
Fuss wants to stand up but Mcguire manages to regain full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Viktor Fuss showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mcguire pulls Fuss in close to prevent any damage.
Fuss wants to stand and escape but instead Mcguire has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Fuss keeping moving, preventing Mcguire from controlling successfully.

Mcguire would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Fuss not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Mcguire connects with a couple of short punches.
Fuss is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Mcguire wants to stand but Fuss is controlling his posture from full guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Viktor Fuss wasn't active enough on the ground.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Fuss decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mcguire, up you get!

Fuss throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mcguire tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Fuss is in Mcguire's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Alfred Mcguire has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Fuss moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Fuss looks to clinch
and Mcguire counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Mcguire throws a hook to the side of Fuss's head but Fuss sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Fuss shoots in and gets a takedown into Mcguire's guard.
Mcguire manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Fuss manages to get himself to full guard.

Mcguire stands up and waves to Fuss to follow him.
Mcguire tries to land a front kick but Fuss steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Fuss instigates a clinch.
Mcguire is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Fuss to keep the fight standing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fuss with an attempt at a knee that misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mcguire gets control of Fuss's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mcguire will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Alfred Mcguire has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Viktor Fuss is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Fuss loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
