Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Mcdough (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DAVID VILLEGAS (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! VILLEGAS fails with an attempt to clinch.
VILLEGAS is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Mcdough throws a combination but it was largely blocked by VILLEGAS. Mcdough throws a head kick but VILLEGAS moves out of range.
Mcdough wants to clinch but VILLEGAS slips to the side and VILLEGAS counters with a shoot takedown. Mcdough fights it but they end up in guard. VILLEGAS stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mcdough swivels though and keeps the full guard. Mcdough is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. VILLEGAS must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. VILLEGAS prevents Mcdough from getting back to his feet. Mcdough avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. VILLEGAS preventing the sweep. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. VILLEGAS wants to clinch and Mcdough moves into the clinch. VILLEGAS ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. VILLEGAS no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. VILLEGAS seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Mcdough stands up from VILLEGAS's guard - Mcdough perhaps looking for a knockout. VILLEGAS looks to clinch and Mcdough counters by clinching up. VILLEGAS wants to break the clinch but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mcdough is trying to buck VILLEGAS off. Mcdough is not content to let VILLEGAS control the position. Mcdough tries to improve position but can't. VILLEGAS trying to control the position but Mcdough is working away. VILLEGAS sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Mcdough is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. VILLEGAS trying to control the position but Mcdough is working away. Mcdough on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mcdough tries to get out of the position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. VILLEGAS wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mcdough, who protects the arm well.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. VILLEGAS scores with a nice strike. VILLEGAS fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Mcdough sprawls well initially but VILLEGAS persists and gets the takedown into half guard. VILLEGAS keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. VILLEGAS throwing shots but Mcdough is blocking nicely. Mcdough is trying to control but VILLEGAS passes into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
DAVID VILLEGAS dominated that round. That's time! Mcdough's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
VILLEGAS shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Mcdough counters with a series of strikes. VILLEGAS will be more careful next time no doubt. Mcdough fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mcdough circles away from the clinch attempt and Mcdough counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Mcdough pushes VILLEGAS up against the cage in a clinch. Mcdough breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Mcdough lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as VILLEGAS backs up against the cage.
Mcdough throws a body punch but VILLEGAS moves out of range. VILLEGAS doesn't succeed with the takedown and Mcdough counters with a nice body shot. A clash of legs there as VILLEGAS blocks the low kick. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. VILLEGAS with a lazy takedown attempt and Mcdough counters with a big head kick but VILLEGAS shrugs it off. Douglas Mcdough has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of DAVID VILLEGAS. VILLEGAS doesn't succeed with the takedown and Mcdough counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mcdough. Mcdough controlling the action here for a moment.

VILLEGAS keeps Mcdough at a distance using the push kick. VILLEGAS tries to close the distance and clinch but Mcdough swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Mcdough stuffs the takedown. VILLEGAS misses with a two punch combination.

That's three minutes gone in the round. VILLEGAS tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mcdough smiles and moves away.
VILLEGAS scores a takedown into full mount! Mcdough is desperately trying to improve his position but VILLEGAS has a good base and remains in mount. VILLEGAS working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Mcdough holds on to VILLEGAS around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mcdough wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by VILLEGAS.
Mcdough wants to hold on but VILLEGAS pushes him away. VILLEGAS throws some wild stikes that Mcdough manages to avoid easily.
Mcdough wants to control but VILLEGAS is having none of it. VILLEGAS trying to control but he's not successful this time. Mcdough is in all sorts of trouble here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Douglas Mcdough dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Mcdough is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Nice takedown defense from Mcdough. No joy for VILLEGAS on that attempt. Mcdough throws a body kick the misses and VILLEGAS counters with a left and a right that stings Mcdough. VILLEGAS looks for a takedown but Mcdough sprawls well. Douglas Mcdough has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of DAVID VILLEGAS. VILLEGAS closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mcdough circles away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mcdough has closed the distance and engaged VILLEGAS in a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. VILLEGAS is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. VILLEGAS drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mcdough gets the underhooks and prevents it.

VILLEGAS fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. VILLEGAS looks for a takedown but Mcdough sprawls well. Mcdough tries to clinch but fails miserably and VILLEGAS counters with a nice double leg into half guard. VILLEGAS is trying to control the action in half guard but Mcdough is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Mcdough works his way to full guard. Good work. Mcdough is looking to sweep but instead, VILLEGAS has passed into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mcdough looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Mcdough is looking for a sweep. VILLEGAS is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. VILLEGAS sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Mcdough defending well though. VILLEGAS prevents Mcdough from standing back up.

The fighters roll with the hold and VILLEGAS manages to kick Mcdough off! Mcdough jumps back into VILLEGAS's guard.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Douglas Mcdough. I think Mcdough has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
