Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Eldridge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Eldridge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roy Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Summer Carpenter and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eldridge throws a head kick that misses.

Nelson lands a big head kick that sends Eldridge tumbling to the mat! Nelson takes a step backwards and waves Eldridge back to his feet - he wants the finish!


It looks like Michael Eldridge has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nelson tries to bum rush Eldridge with a series of wild strikes but Eldridge uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Eldridge tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Eldridge tries to move into range but Nelson moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Nelson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Nelson walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Nelson blocks a head kick by Eldridge.
Eldridge darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Eldridge swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Eldridge lands with a nice body punch.
Nelson takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Nelson takes one to the chin there.

A left lands for Eldridge.


It looks like Roy Nelson has been cut.
Eldridge attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Eldridge scores with a spinning back kick!

Eldridge clinches up against the cage.

Nelson misses with a hook from the clinch.
Nelson tries to break the clinch but Eldridge is controlling the position.

Eldridge creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Nelson's defenses.

Nelson lands a left hand that snaps the head of Eldridge backwards.

Eldridge lands a nice elbow from the clinch.


That has opened up Roy Nelson's cut even more.
Eldridge is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Nelson is defending well for now.

Eldridge will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Nelson up against the cage.

Nelson tries to circle away but Eldridge has him pinned against the cage.

Nelson gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Eldridge working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nelson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nelson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Eldridge is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Nelson is controlling him.

Nelson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Nelson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Eldridge is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Eldridge has momentary wrist control but Nelson slips an elbow through the middle.
Eldridge bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Nelson's guard.
Nelson wants to stand but Eldridge is controlling the position.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Eldridge is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Nelson wants to improve his position but instead Eldridge has moved into half guard.
Nelson gets back to full guard.
Eldridge passes Nelson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Nelson is not content to let Eldridge control the position.
Nelson is trying to get back to full guard.
Nelson keeps trying to improve his position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Eldridge tries to pass the half guard into mount. Nelson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Eldridge is keen to just control but Nelson is a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Roy Nelson will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Nelson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Eldridge can pounce on him.
Eldridge tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Nelson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Eldridge fails in his attempt to clinch.
Michael Eldridge seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nelson bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Eldridge moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Eldridge swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Nelson counters with a nice uppercut.


Michael Eldridge's cut is getting worse.
Eldridge slips a straight right by Nelson.
Eldridge feints and then cracks Nelson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Nelson down.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Eldridge connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Nelson's hands.
Eldridge is looking to clinch.
Eldridge scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Nelson scores with a hook to the body. Eldridge takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Nelson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Eldridge counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Eldridge buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Nelson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Eldridge, as that shot connected.


The cut above Roy Nelson's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Nelson checks a leg kick nicely.
Eldridge looks to throw the jab but Nelson is out of range.
Eldridge tries to close the distance and clinch but Nelson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Eldridge throws a nice inside leg kick.
Nelson throws a head kick that misses.
Eldridge tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Eldridge misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Eldridge clinches.
Nelson misses with the head strike.

Nelson swings wildly with an uppercut but Eldridge uses good head movement to avoid it.
Nelson managing to block the knees to the body from Eldridge.

Nelson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Eldridge lands a knee to the body.
Eldridge lands with a light punch inside.
Nice elbow from Eldridge.
Nelson misses with a punch on the inside.
Nelson can't break the clinch.
Eldridge has Nelson pressed against the cage, preventing Nelson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Roy Nelson's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
