Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cletus Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Parsons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Cletus Simmons!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Parsons!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, John Kavanagh and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Parsons shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Simmons is trying to defend but Parsons finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Simmons has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Parsons is working away from the top position though.

Parsons is trying to work for a kimura but Simmons is defending well.

Parsons is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Parsons looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Simmons passes into half guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Parsons can do anything to dispel that myth.

Parsons is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Simmons defends well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Simmons loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Parsons working a defensive guard but Simmons passes into half guard.
Simmons thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Simmons thows a huge punch but Parsons dodges it nicely.
Simmons not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Parsons is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Simmons's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Simmons's back!

Parsons tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Simmons paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Simmons uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Parsons.

Simmons's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Simmons wants to take the fight to the mat but Parsons manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Parsons shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Simmons's guard.

Parsons trying to control but Simmons is working from the bottom.
Simmons is pulling down on Parsons's head. It's preventing any offense from Parsons, at least for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Parsons is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Simmons throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Parsons keeps the fight on the outside.

Parsons drives through with a takedown into Simmons's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Parsons looking to sit in guard and control but Simmons gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Simmons wanted to stand there but Parsons had control of the position.

Parsons kicks Simmons off and gets to his feet.
Simmons really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Simmons takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Parsons throws a lazy uppercut
and Simmons counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Parsons is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Parsons shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Parsons was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Parsons sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Simmons is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Simmons is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Billy Parsons showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Simmons circles away from the clinch attempt.

Simmons gets caught napping as Parsons dives in and scores a takedown. Simmons manages to retain guard.
Simmons wants to sweep but no luck.
Parsons trying to control the position from guard on top but Simmons is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Parsons pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Simmons is keeping the position for now.
Simmons is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Billy Parsons hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Simmons showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Parsons.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Parsons lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Simmons has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Simmons and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Parsons pushes Simmons up against the cage in a clinch.
Parsons looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Parsons is looking to break free of the clinch but Simmons has double underhooks.
Simmons has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Parsons is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Parsons tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Simmons's elbow.

Parsons is trying to push Simmons away but Simmons has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Parsons manages to pull guard.

Simmons has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Parsons takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Parsons gets to his feet - Simmons follows without any prompting.

Well Parsons has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
