Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jed Guerrero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dire Rhea (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dire Rhea is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jed Guerrero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dire Rhea!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guerrero tries to clinch up.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Rhea.
Rhea dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Guerrero. That did some damage!
Guerrero is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Rhea tries a head kick but it misses.

Guerrero clinches with his opponent.

Rhea escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rhea tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Guerrero blocks a head kick by Rhea.
Guerrero darts in trying to clinch
and Rhea counters with a head kick. That will keep Guerrero thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Rhea uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Guerrero.
Rhea pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rhea throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Guerrero tries to clinch but Rhea moves out of range.

Rhea has closed the distance and engaged Guerrero in a clinch.

Rhea drives through and clinches with Guerrero against the cage.
Rhea is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Guerrero can't find room to land a body shot as Rhea controls the action.

Guerrero escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Guerrero shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Guerrero is looking for a kimura but Rhea is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Guerrero to get the leverage.
Guerrero thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Guerrero throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Guerrero working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Guerrero is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rhea sees it coming and defends easily.

Guerrero thows a huge punch but Rhea dodges it nicely.

Rhea is defending against the submission attempts here by Guerrero.

Rhea tries to kick Guerrero off but Guerrero keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Guerrero will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Guerrero has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Rhea really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Guerrero. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jed Guerrero dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Guerrero shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Rhea pinned against the cage. Rhea gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Rhea misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rhea throws a sloppy head kick and Guerrero moves out of range easily.
Guerrero closes the distance and clinches up with Rhea, looking for a takedown. Guerrero pushes Rhea against the cage but Rhea circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A solid body kick from Rhea.
Rhea fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Guerrero.
Rhea throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Rhea throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Guerrero's head.


It looks like Jed Guerrero has been cut.

Rhea drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Guerrero keeping moving, preventing Rhea from controlling successfully.
We've been informed that Rhea has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Guerrero has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rhea can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Rhea must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Rhea content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Guerrero has locked up a guillotine! Guerrero's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Rhea is holding on here and Guerrero must be using up a lot of energy. Rhea has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Guerrero gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
