Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sho Shinjo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larry David (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shinjo comes to the cage accompanied by Theme of Sho. David has chosen PRINCE RAMA - RAGHUPATI as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 18 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sho Shinjo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Larry David!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sho Shinjo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and David counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Shinjo thinking.
Shinjo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. David manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

David throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Shinjo takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Shinjo throws a front kick aimed at David's knee but David avoids it well.
Shinjo tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but David defends well and Shinjo ends up having to push David into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
David tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Shinjo's elbow.

We've been informed that David has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Shinjo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Shinjo is trying to control. David wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Shinjo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shinjo throws a head kick that misses.
Some wild striking there from Shinjo.
The fight stays on the outside here - David looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Shinjo throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Shinjo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but David swivels and escapes.

Shinjo drops back, looking for a kneebar! David looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. David looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from David!


David decides to stand up, so the ref orders Shinjo to his feet.

Shinjo tries to close the distance and clinch up but David swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and David connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

David lands a nice looking kick to the body. Shinjo takes a step back to recover.

David throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Shinjo's head.
Shinjo tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but David defends well and Shinjo ends up having to push David into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

David tries to work over Shinjo's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
David scores with an uppercut up the middle.

David escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
David wants to get back to his feet but Shinjo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Shinjo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. David knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sho Shinjo will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Shinjo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. David tries to avoid it but Shinjo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag David to the ground. David escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Shinjo is looking to wear down David with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.
Shinjo shoots for a takedown but David saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

David swings wildly with an uppercut but Shinjo uses good head movement to avoid it.
David throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
David digs a right hand underneath Shinjo's ribcage. Shinjo let out a lung full of air as it connected.
David has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shinjo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! David is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Shinjo, into his guard.

David stands up and waves to Shinjo to follow him.

Larry David comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think David has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

As Larry David got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: Man I am so glad I was able to get the win tonight! That guy was one heck of a pain in the ass! Oi ! He took one heck of a whollop ! If I hadn't one this fight my manager was planning on giving me the axe, so it's good to know you all will be seeing me again! Bagles and locks on me at the deli'.
