Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Benedict!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Adam Perry!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benedict connects with a jab.


It looks like Adam Perry has been cut.
Benedict lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Benedict.
Benedict throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Perry doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Perry slips under a jab from Benedict.
Benedict throws a shot from downtown. Perry moves away and avoids it.
Perry shoots in but no luck this time.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Perry shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Perry looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Perry is looking to take a break and control but Benedict is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Benedict is holding on to half guard well.
Perry throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Perry looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Perry missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Benedict avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Perry.
Perry throwing shots but Benedict is blocking nicely.
Benedict controlling the position well.
Benedict knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Perry on the ground.
Perry is looking to take a break and control but Benedict is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Benedict is controlling Perry's trapped leg to prevent Perry from advancing to side control.

Perry not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Benedict is trying to get back to full guard.
Benedict trying to hold on to Perry's head to control him but Perry postures up.
Perry lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Perry has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Benedict is looking for a sweep. Perry is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Benedict on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Perry is pressing down on Benedict's thigh, looking to free his foot. Benedict is holding on for now.
Benedict wants to improve his position but Perry is controlling well.
Perry thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Perry throwing shots but Benedict is blocking nicely.
Benedict is controlling Perry's trapped leg to prevent Perry from advancing to side control.
Perry not landing any meaningful shots this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Perry looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Benedict might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Benedict is concentrating on defense, preventing Perry from advancing position.
Benedict is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Perry scores with a couple of nice shots.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Benedict tries to roll over but Perry keeps him under control.
Benedict avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Perry.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Joe Benedict will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Adam Perry's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Perry shoots in for a takedown but Benedict shows good takedown defense.
Benedict connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Benedict darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Perry throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Perry fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Benedict drops his shoulder and cracks Perry with a huge uppercut! Perry goes down! Can Benedict finish him?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Benedict wants to control from the top but Perry keeps moving.
Benedict preventing the sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Benedict controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Benedict trying to control but Perry is working from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Joe Benedict has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Benedict misses with the combination.
Perry misses with a wild body shot.
Perry shoots in for a takedown but Benedict shows good takedown defense.
Joe Benedict has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adam Perry.
Perry walks into a left hand.


That has opened up Adam Perry's cut even more.
Perry drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Benedict fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Perry to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Perry looks to clinch but Benedict throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Perry taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Joe Benedict!
Joe Benedict thanked the fans post fight for their support.
Adam Perry spoke after the fight, saying 'Was a great bout, he did what he had to do to win'.
