Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Biniam John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joel Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Biniam John!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Joel Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Glass and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

John takes the fight into the clinch.
Diaz changes levels and goes for a takedown here. John fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Diaz dives in for a single leg takedown but John sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Diaz has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Diaz wants a takedown but no success here.
Biniam John has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joel Diaz.
Diaz tries to pull guard but John won't allow it.

John has clasped his hands together around Diaz's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Diaz is trying to control John's posture but John avoids it.

John stands up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Diaz shoots in looking for a takedown but John manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Diaz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

John has closed the distance and engaged Diaz in a clinch.

John jumps into guard, dragging Diaz to the mat.
John throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Diaz preventing the sweep.
John is working hard here to advance position.
Diaz with a flurry of punches that miss.
John keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully.
Diaz postures up in John's guard and throws a big left but John blocks it.
John pulls Diaz in close to his closed guard and prevents Diaz from doing any damage or advancing position.
Diaz has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Diaz postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! John is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Diaz, into his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Diaz is looking for a triangle but John pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Diaz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Diaz is on top in guard.
John trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Diaz scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Diaz won't allow John to sweep him here.
John can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Diaz controls the pace.
Diaz trying to control but John is working from the bottom.
John can't keep his opponent in guard - Diaz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Diaz is looking to take a break and control but John is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
John is pressing down on Diaz's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Diaz trying to control the position from guard on top but John is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Diaz drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but John manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Diaz has John in his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
John slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
John looking to sit in guard and control but Diaz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Diaz distracts John with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joel Diaz dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Diaz misses with a takedown
and John counters with a left to the body.
John keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

John shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Diaz manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
John engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Diaz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Diaz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
John wants to get up but he can't break Diaz's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

John knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diaz on the ground.

We're going to have a standup here because Biniam John wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Diaz fails to land the takedown.
Biniam John has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joel Diaz.

John drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Diaz throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
John controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Diaz is trying to control the position but John postures up.
John trying to stand up but can't free himself from Diaz's guard.

Diaz is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! John rolls with it to try and escape but Diaz cranks on the arm and John is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Joel Diaz!
Joel Diaz decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
