Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Martin Philippe Njewel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 50 - 17 - 0, fighting out of London, Charles Martel!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Njewel misses with a body shot
and Martel counters with a stiff right hand.
Njewel staying out of range there.
Njewel swings for the body but Martel moves out of range.
Njewel shoots in for a takedown but Martel shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Njewel closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Martel quickly recovers to half guard.

Njewel looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Njewel is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Njewel is trying to control the action in half guard but Martel is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Njewel not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

That kick from Njewel tenderised Martel's leg. Martel is trying to keep his angry face on.

Martel throws a hook to the side of Njewel's head but Njewel sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Njewel throws a hook but Martel avoids it easily.
A clash of legs there as Martel blocks the low kick.
Njewel shoots in for a takedown but Martel shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Njewel dives in and grabs Martel's left leg, looking for a takedown. Martel pushes down on Njewel's head and hops out.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Martel is on top in guard.


Martel got a little sloppy there for a moment and Njewel has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Martel has managed to get both his arms back between Njewel's legs - danger averted.
Martel's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Njewel had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Martel defends it easily.
Martel controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Martel's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Martel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Njewel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Njewel isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Martel stacks Njewel on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Martel!

You can see the frustration on Njewel's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Martel wants to lay and pray for a moment but Njewel keeps working.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Martel tries to advance to mount but Njewel denies him.
Martel creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Njewel sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Martel postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Martel content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Njewel paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Martel throws an overhand right that lands on Njewel's shoulder, as Njewel tries to avoid the shot.

Njewel lunges at Martel with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Martel's hand.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Martel.

and Njewel counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Martel thuds his right hand into Njewel's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
The crowd cheers as Njewel lands an impressive looking overhand right. Martel doesn't seem phased though.

Martel takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Njewel throws a front kick aimed at Martel's knee but Martel avoids it well.

Martel throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Martel crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Njewel - the referee stops the clock and Martel gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Njewel. Martel manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Njewel has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Njewel there as he acknowledges the shot.

Njewel throws a solid leg kick but Martel takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Njewel.
Njewel shoots in looking for a takedown. Martel tries to sprawl out of it but Njewel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Martel manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Martel throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Martel sizes up Njewel with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Martel looks to land a body kick but Njewel moved away.
Njewel throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Njewel misses with a wild body shot.
Njewel tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Njewel connects with a looping right hand.
Martel misses with a body shot.
Martel throws a low kick but Njewel moves out of range easily.
Martel doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Martin Philippe Njewel.
Well Njewel has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Martin Philippe Njewel very nearly forgot to thank KAISER amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
In defeat, Charles Martel stepped up to the mic, saying 'My opponent was the better man tonight but that doesn't mean there's no after party. Come on down to the Spearmint Rhino, first lap dance is on me!'.
