Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Grant Benton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vasilko Nikolaevich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Vasilko Nikolaevich was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Grant Benton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vasilko Nikolaevich! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Daniel Cesar and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Benton looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Nikolaevich moves into the clinch successfully.
I was talking to Benton's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Benton blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Benton goes for a takedown in the clinch but Nikolaevich prevents it.
Nikolaevich stops a takedown attempt from Benton.
Nikolaevich keeps control of Benton as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Benton gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Benton stops Nikolaevich from getting back to his feet.
Benton is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Nikolaevich has managed to free his arm - good work. Benton is stalling here. Nikolaevich is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Benton seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Nikolaevich has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Benton is looking to reverse the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nikolaevich wants to stand but Benton has his arm trapped. Benton regains half guard. Benton gets back to full guard.
Nikolaevich wants to get up but he can't break Benton's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Benton is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Nikolaevich has his hands clasped together but Benton extends and breaks Nikolaevich's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Benton.
