Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Johnny Vegas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul Walker!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker shoots in but Vegas avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Paul Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vegas looks for a takedown but Walker sprawls well.
No joy there for Walker, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Walker throws a series of punches but Vegas avoids them all with ease.

Vegas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Walker has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Walker shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Vegas defends it nicely.

Vegas throws a leg kick which misses Walker's front leg but catches the back leg as Walker tries to avoid it.
Walker goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Walker is taking a breather. Vegas says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Vegas dives in and grabs Walker's left leg, looking for a takedown. Walker pushes down on Vegas's head and hops out.

Vegas is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Walker accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Paul Walker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Vegas fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Walker has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Walker rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Vegas moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Vegas crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Walker - the referee stops the clock and Vegas gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Walker. Vegas manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Vegas is pressed up against the cage. Walker has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Vegas down to the mat. Vegas avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Vegas shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Walker is trying to defend but Vegas finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Vegas stands up and beckons Walker to join him on the feet.

Well Walker has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
