Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Genghis Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rufus McTearson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Khan comes into the arena with Nirvana - The Man Who Sold the World blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Genghis Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 7 - 2, fighting out of New York, Rufus McTearson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Khan closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into McTearson's guard.
We've been hearing that Khan has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Khan wants to control from the top but McTearson keeps moving.
McTearson trying to keep a closed guard but Khan is proving a slippery customer.
McTearson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
McTearson has control of Khan's left arm, preventing Khan from doing any damage.
Khan trying to control the position from guard on top but McTearson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Khan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McTearson but McTearson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Khan swings for the body but McTearson moves out of range.
McTearson misses with a low kick.
McTearson scores with a jab. Khan acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Khan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

McTearson lands a nice looking body shot.
Khan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Khan comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Khan counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Khan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McTearson to the mat! McTearson manages to get full guard.
McTearson looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Khan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now McTearson is on top in guard.

McTearson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Khan's guard.
Khan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
McTearson is controlling the pace.

The fighters are battling for position here. Khan manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

McTearson throws a nice outside leg kick.
McTearson throws the left hand but Khan avoids the punch easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rufus McTearson will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


A swing and a miss from Khan.
Rufus McTearson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
McTearson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
McTearson throws a wild body kick that Khan sees coming a mile off.
Khan dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
McTearson tries a head kick but it misses.
Khan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McTearson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Khan fails with a takedown attempt.
McTearson feints a jab promting Khan to slip. McTearson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Khan slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

and McTearson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

McTearson connects with a good right hand that stumbles Khan. Khan circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Khan takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Khan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McTearson's waist but McTearson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Khan off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Genghis Khan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McTearson thows a body kick. Khan tries to catch it but that hurt him.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Khan is defended easily by McTearson.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from McTearson! But no joy.
Rufus McTearson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Khan slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

McTearson was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
McTearson throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

Khan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McTearson was well out of range. Poor timing from Khan.

Khan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McTearson tries to avoid it but Khan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McTearson to the ground. McTearson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
McTearson takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

McTearson leaves Khan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

McTearson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Khan.
McTearson unleashes a big counter combination but Khan bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Nice takedown defense from McTearson. No joy for Khan on that attempt.

Khan closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Rufus McTearson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Khan tries to score a power double leg takedown but McTearson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Khan somewhat.
McTearson connects with a solid leg kick.
McTearson lands a lovely overhand right.

McTearson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Khan shoots in but McTearson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Rufus McTearson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McTearson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Khan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McTearson has managed to get both his arms back between Khan's legs - danger averted.

McTearson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
McTearson wants to get up but he can't break Khan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

McTearson lands with a nice combination. Khan backs away looking to recover.

Khan is looking to wear down McTearson with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Khan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has McTearson pinned against the cage. McTearson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Rufus McTearson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got McTearson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
