Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Phil Mcracken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Cage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcracken comes to the cage accompanied by DJ Hi-Tek Rulez [Die Antwoord]. Cage has chosen Johnny Cage Theme as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Phil Mcracken! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
41 - 23 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Cage! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cage thuds his right hand into Mcracken's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Mcracken throws the left hand but Cage avoids the punch easily. Cage ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Mcracken tests Cage's chin there with a solid looking shot. Cage dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Cage throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Cage ducks under a wild hook from Mcracken. Cage throws a lazy head kick and Mcracken counters with a takedown into side control. Mcracken trying to control the position but Cage is working away. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sloppy strikes there by Mcracken. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mcracken working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Mcracken has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Mcracken trying to control the position but Cage is working away. Cage tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mcracken wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Mcracken in side control, throwing shots but Cage defends. Mcracken tries to move into full mount but can't pass Cage's legs.

Mcracken is looking to take a break and control but Cage is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Mcracken misses with the ground and pound. Cage keeping moving, preventing Mcracken from controlling successfully. Cage has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Palazzo Paisano. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Mcracken looking to pass the guard. Mcracken trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Cage manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Mcracken is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mcracken avoids a wild elbow strike from Cage. Cage misses with a hook to the ribs.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Mcracken creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Cage misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Mcracken.
Cage lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Cage working aggressively here.
Mcracken has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Cage lands a right hand. Mcracken on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Cage scores with a jab. Mcracken acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Cage lands a nice hook to Mcracken's body. Mcracken takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A looping hook to the body misses from Mcracken. Cage does a little dance to reset his feet.

Mcracken missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Mcracken trying to control from Cage's half guard. Cage has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Mcracken won't allow Cage to sweep him here. Mcracken stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cage swivels though and keeps the full guard. Mcracken trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Cage utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Mcracken throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cage works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Cage swivels though and keeps the full guard. Cage keeping moving, preventing Mcracken from controlling successfully. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Cage wants to sweep but no luck.

and Cage counters with a stiff right hand. Cage thows a left - swing and a miss! Cage connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Mcracken lands with a shot to the body.

Cage on the wrong end of a nice jab. Cage misses with a low kick as Mcracken jumps back. Mcracken bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Cage's head backwards. Mcracken throws an overhand right that lands on Cage's shoulder, as Cage tries to avoid the shot. Cage throws a lazy uppercut
and Mcracken counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cage won't be happy with that. Mcracken thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Phil Mcracken overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cage tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mcracken wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Cage is trying to control Mcracken's posture but Mcracken avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mcracken working the ground and pound. Mcracken landing strikes. Mcracken is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cage can do to turn this around? Mcracken working the ground and pound but Cage is defending the strikes. Cage dodges the ground and pound from Mcracken. Mcracken is putting a hurting on Cage here, landing some big shots from side control. Mcracken has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mcracken taking a breather here. Mcracken has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Mcracken throws a strike aimed at the side of Cage's head but Cage avoids it well.

Cage is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Mcracken's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Cage slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
