Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shaun Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patryk Szczerbiec (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shaun Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Patryk Szczerbiec! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Szczerbiec ducks under a wild hook from Johnson. Szczerbiec bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Johnson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Johnson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Szczerbiec counters with a low kick, right behind Johnson 's knee. Szczerbiec throws a head kick that half lands.
Nice defenses there by Szczerbiec. A swing and a miss from Johnson. Szczerbiec misses with a double jab
and Szczerbiec takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Johnson throws an overhand right that lands on Szczerbiec's shoulder, as Szczerbiec tries to avoid the shot. A telegraphed right hand from Szczerbiec misses the target. Johnson fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Szczerbiec scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Szczerbiec moves out of range as Johnson strikes. Szczerbiec moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Szczerbiec ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Johnson tests Szczerbiec's chin there with a solid looking shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Szczerbiec on the wrong end of a nice hook. Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Szczerbiec shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Szczerbiec gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Szczerbiec working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Johnson. Johnson won't allow Szczerbiec to sweep him here. Szczerbiec controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Szczerbiec looking for a guillotine here but Johnson defends easily.
Johnson wants to control from the top but Szczerbiec keeps moving. Szczerbiec preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Szczerbiec wants to stand up but Johnson is controlling him. Szczerbiec is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Johnson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Johnson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Szczerbiec has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Johnson has managed to get both his arms back between Szczerbiec's legs - danger averted. Johnson with a flurry of punches that miss. Szczerbiec keeping moving, preventing Johnson from controlling successfully.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Johnson wants to slow Szczerbiec down by chopping away at his legs. Johnson shoots for a takedown but Szczerbiec saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A nice inside leg kick there by Szczerbiec. That's going to slow Johnson down. Johnson throws a right hand that misses
enabling Szczerbiec to counter with a crisp jab. Johnson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shaun Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Szczerbiec thuds his shin into the meat of Johnson's side. Szczerbiec connects with an inside leg kick. Patryk Szczerbiec is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Szczerbiec stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Szczerbiec wants it to stay on the feet. Sloppy strikes from Szczerbiec. Those never looked like landing. Johnson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Szczerbiec avoids it really well and circles away. Johnson swings for the body but Szczerbiec moves out of range.
Nice uppercut there from Johnson. Johnson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Shaun Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson moves away from the strike by Szczerbiec. Johnson scores with a nice right hand.
Szczerbiec misses with a few strikes there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Szczerbiec. A jab from Szczerbiec finds it's way through Johnson's defenses. Szczerbiec steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Johnson. A looping hook to the body misses from Johnson. Szczerbiec does a little dance to reset his feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Johnson takes a body punch but keeps moving. Szczerbiec cracks Johnson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Johnson lands a jab to the head.
Johnson throws a big shot that misses. Johnson looks for the body kick but Szczerbiec saw that one coming. Szczerbiec tries to sprawl but Johnson drives through with a takedown into half guard. Johnson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Johnson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Johnson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Johnson is trying to control. Szczerbiec wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Shaun Johnson will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Johnson takes a swing at Szczerbiec's ribcage but misses. Johnson throws a leg kick and Szczerbiec counters with a left to the body. Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Szczerbiec shows good takedown defense. Patryk Szczerbiec seems to be getting the better of the standup. Szczerbiec stuffs the takedown attempt from Johnson. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet. Johnson avoids a kick to the body.
Johnson throws a right and a left that both miss. Johnson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Szczerbiec's half guard. Szczerbiec trying to control here.
Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson passes into side control, despite Szczerbiec's attempt to control the position.
Johnson lands a nice forearm strike. Szczerbiec wants to get back to his feet but Johnson drags him back down.
That's one minute gone in the round. Szczerbiec is looking to reverse the position. The strikes coming from Johnson are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Johnson throws a strike aimed at the side of Szczerbiec's head but Szczerbiec avoids it well. Szczerbiec misses with a strike from the bottom. Szczerbiec is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Johnson is controlling him well. Szczerbiec is looking to reverse the position. Johnson throws an elbow but Szczerbiec slips to the side and avoids it well. Johnson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Johnson in side control lands a decent elbow. Szczerbiec tries to buck Johnson off but Johnson is having none of it. You can see the frustration on Szczerbiec's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Johnson is working Szczerbiec over with some ground and pound from side control. Johnson trying to control the position but Szczerbiec is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson misses with the ground and pound. Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Szczerbiec is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Szczerbiec on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Johnson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Szczerbiec looks calm but he's in trouble here. Johnson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Szczerbiec is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Johnson lets go of the hold and Szczerbiec can pop his arm back in it's socket.
