The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Sosuke Kotani and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Formie with a poor takedown
and Watts counters with a shoot takedown. Formie fights it but they end up in guard.
Watts loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Watts works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Watts sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Formie defending well though.

Watts is nestled in close to Formie, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Watts is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Formie still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Formie has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Watts bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Formie's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Watts accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Watts stands and throws Formie's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Watts misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The referee asks Watts politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Watts prefers to stall for the moment though.

Watts throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Formie tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Watts is in Formie's guard.

Watts is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Formie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Watts has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Formie has managed to get both his arms back between Watts's legs - danger averted.

Watts is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Formie shoots and misses
and Watts counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
