PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aleksanteri Karelin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Rosenthal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karelin comes to the cage accompanied by CCCP. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Aleksanteri Karelin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 20 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Rosenthal !
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rosenthal wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Karelin shoots in looking for a takedown but Rosenthal manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Karelin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rosenthal looks to land a right hand but Karelin moved out of range.
It looked like Karelin wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Frank Rosenthal seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Karelin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rosenthal looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Karelin throws an elbow that misses. Rosenthal uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Karelin's guard. Nice move by Rosenthal !

Karelin throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rosenthal tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Karelin is in Rosenthal 's guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Aleksanteri Karelin will probably get the nod.
