Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Martin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Inti Raimi! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Raimi!
Raimi throws a combination. Martin tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Raimi throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Martin. Raimi throws a series of punches but Martin moves out of range. Inti Raimi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Raimi misses with a series of wild punches.
Martin takes a kick to the side of the head. Raimi rushes Martin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Raimi wants the takedown. Martin is fighting it off but Raimi persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Martin's guard against the cage. Raimi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Raimi trying to control the position from guard on top but Martin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Raimi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Martin seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Raimi missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Raimi stopping the sweep attempt from Martin. Raimi is looking to work some ground and pound but Martin has wrist control. Raimi wants to control from the top but Martin keeps moving. Raimi controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Martin has momentary wrist control but Raimi slips an elbow through the middle. Raimi is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Raimi works over Martin with some ground and pound from guard. Raimi working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Martin's head. Raimi lands a couple of decent looking shots. Raimi postures up in Martin's guard and throws a big left but Martin blocks it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Raimi makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Martin is breathing heavily. Martin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Raimi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Raimi missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Raimi wants to control from the top but Martin keeps moving. Raimi drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Raimi as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Martin screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Raimi! Nice submission victory there!
