Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Oliver Queen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harvey Milk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Milk has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Oliver Queen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Harvey Milk!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, David Hoff and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Queen scores with a hook.


It looks like Harvey Milk has been cut.
Milk looks winded!
Queen dives in and grabs Milk's left leg, looking for a takedown. Milk pushes down on Queen's head and hops out.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Queen, right into the meat.
Queen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Milk pinned against the cage. Milk gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Queen tries for a takedown but Milk sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Oliver Queen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Queen drives through and clinches with Milk against the cage.
Queen lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

Queen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Milk gets caught napping as Queen dives in and scores a takedown. Milk manages to retain guard.
Queen is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

My spies in Cozad The Island inform me that Milk has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Milk wants to control from the top but Queen keeps moving.

Milk wants to control from the top but Queen keeps moving.

Queen wants to get back to his feet but Milk is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Queen keeping moving, preventing Milk from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Queen fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Queen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Milk manages to get himself to full guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Milk can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well Queen has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
