Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matt Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Assuerio Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes's entrance music is Country Boy Can Survive. A fine choice. Alves has chosen Led Zeppelin - The Immagrant Song as his entrance music. Assuerio Alves has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Matt Hughes's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes shoots in and bounces Alves off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hughes landing some decent shots from guard.
Hughes working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Alves's head.
Hughes looking to pass the guard.
Hughes throwing strikes from guard but Alves blocks nicely.
Hughes prevents Alves from getting back to his feet.
Alves avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Hughes throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Alves is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Hughes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Alves is keeping the position for now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Alves stuffs the takedown attempt from Hughes. Hughes gets slowly back to his feet.
Alves lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Alves.
Hughes circles away from the clinch attempt.
Alves throws a left jab followed by a right to the body, Oh Hughes colapses and takes a barrage of punches from Alves as he moves to mount! the ref stops the fight and Hughes is left battered and dazed whilst Alves and his camp cheer!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Assuerio Alves!
